wee ones (part 6 of the 6 weeks of xmas)

One week to go!
Children are small. Babies are even smaller! This makes them prime candidates for last minute knitted gifts.  Here are a few ideas for the wee people.

Children may like the feeling of having a trendy pair of fingerless mitts just as much as the grownups do.  Here is a pattern just for them.  It is sized from baby to 6 years old.  Intermediate knitters can download the Half-Pint Fingerless Gloves pattern for $3 here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/half-pint-fingerless-gloves

Still time for a sweater?  When the sizing is this small – I think so.
Try Gramps! What a good name! Available for $6 here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gramps An intermediate level pattern.

For the little ladies there is the sweet Fiona’s Top for $9 here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fionas-top A more advanced pattern.

One of my favorite places to look for children’s patterns is the Pickles website.  Here is a great vest pattern found there.  A vest ( for obvious reasons) is faster to knit then a full sweater.  No sleeves!  Plain Vest is a straight forward pattern that is free and can be found here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/plain-vest

Back to easy-peasy and extra quick is the Knit Café’s Gnome Hat pattern.  With instructions for new knitters and more experienced too this hat will be done lickity split! The Gnome Hat fits new born to 2 years old but there is also a pattern to fit adults.  It is called the Heidi Bonnet.  Both can be purchased at the Knit Café for $5 or on Ravelry here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gnome-hat-4 And here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/heidi-bonnet

I am loving this blanket right now!  It is a little lacy so it is more appropriate for intermediate knitters.  You can find Abby’s Blanket here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/abbys-blanket

This is so nice and a good pattern to try if you would like to take a stab at your first cabling project.  Cables are surprisingly easy especially in a case like this where they are simple and uniform.  You can purchase the Hooded Scarf pattern at the Knit Café for $5. It is a toddler to small child size.

Here is someone who will bring a smile to a small face. Meet Elijah!  This attractive pachyderm is a more advanced knit.  The pattern can be purchased at the Knit Café for $6

More cool toys can be found from Rebecca Danger.  I think this dynamic duo called Daphne and Delilah is a good bet, but if you look her up you will see there is are many more fabulous critters and creations.  If you are running short of time then check out the Bunny Nuggets. Amazing!!
Daphne and Delilah is here for $6:http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/daphne-and-delilah-the-momma-and-baby-monster And the Bunny Nuggets are here for free: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/bunny-nuggets

Deck the halls!
Craftily yours
Kristin
