There are many beautiful knitting patterns out there.
Still, some of us (I won’t name names) continue to enjoy improvising. We like the puzzling. The experts say it is good for the brain.
If you are interested in this kind of cranial development, the Sweater Design Class has been postponed so that you may still join in. It will now begin on Thursday June 14. We will decide during the first class when the make-up class will fall. Give us a call with questions or to register, 416 533 5648.
Debbie Stoller’s Stitch’n Bitch SuperStar Knitting
It will help you with your designer dreams too. It has a chapter that explains, and very well, how to create your own sweaters without a pattern. Drop-sleeve, raglan, and set-in sleeves are all included.
This book has many other treats for experienced knitters such as colour knitting, lace knitting, cables, embroidery, and something Debbie calls “stitch-witchery”. This section is full of all the details that can make knitting so clean and perfect if you are in the know; many types of cast-ons and offs, shaping techniques, seaming, buttonholes, and short-rows. All of this is in one handy reference book. I recommend it. It is written in Stoller’s easy going and easy to understand style. We have some new copies in the store for only $20 each.
