Knitting in the New Year 2013

Do you ring in the new year with a resolution?  Whether you do or not, a brand new year does have a fresh out of the box feel that is hard to escape.  There is no missteps or mistakes yet to tally; only the whiff of promise in the air. It’s a good time to try something unfamiliar, pick up a new skill or improve upon an old one.
With this in mind, I thought I would post our upcoming winter crafting schedule.  Perhaps one of these classes will help you fulfill a dream or two for 2013.

Continental Knitting
It’s all about style!  Some folks knit “English style”, which is what we focus on in our other learn-to-knit classes, and some knit “Continental”.  Hailed as “the faster way to knit” and “left-handed knitting”, these are both good reasons to learn this method.  Learning Continental knitting is a must for those who plan to get serious about fair isle knits, but this class is also just a learn to knit class, so if it fits best into your schedule then this is the how-to to take.  Learn how to cast-on, knit and purl, and cast off in the Continental Style.

If you have something in mind but just can’t make sense of the pattern or the process, bring it along to the “Project Class”  In this class we will discuss how to pick a project that is right for you.  Pattern reading will be practiced, and techniques specific to each project will be demonstrated. Learn to make well-fitted garments by learning about gauge, and finishing techniques.  This class is open to knitters who know the basics but are looking to challenge themselves with something new.
