Creating your first hand made sweater can be intimidating. What pattern do you choose, and is that actually English that it’s written in? My first sweater adventure required a lot of back-up support, someone to help me through the unfamiliar parts but also someone to bring on the encouragement.
If you too would like a helping hand while you make your first sweater, then come and get it! We are hosting our Sweater Class this Wed July 2, 9, 16, 23.
This class features a unisex sweater pattern with a basic flattering shape. It is knit from the top down so that it can be easily adjusted for length, and sleeve length. In addition you can make any size. A baby sweater is a tempting choice for a first sweater; smaller, therefore a quicker knit and cute too. Selfish knitting is also a temptation and if you succumb you can make one in your own size. If you need a pullover than you can make one, or if you prefer a cardigan you can make one of those too, but the options do not end there.
One of the best things about creating your own garments is making all the choices about the colours, and getting crafty with the style details. Both of the examples pictured incorporate colour treats here and there that define the sweater and make them really special. They were more fun to knit that way too.
