Knit little – dream big!

We have a brand new,  learn to knit class starting soon!

Learn all your knit-basics whilst stitching up some pretty adorable tiny knits. We designed this class around the notion that small things are faster to knit and finishing a project quickly breeds satisfaction.  Knits for small people are also innately cute and so motivating to knit. If you have a wee-one in your life to knit for then come join us in this class.

This class is for:

• Those who have never knit before

• Those who have tried but need some hands on care

• Lapsed knitters who need their skills refreshed. Perhaps you have taken our Knit 101 in the past but forgotten a thing or two. The same techniques will be taught in this class but with different projects and patterns to try.

We start the class with a washcloth project to introduce the “knit stitch”

Then, we move on to baby sized leg warmers. These are great for keeping baby warm but still having access to quick changes when the need arises. The leg warmers project introduces the “purl stitch”.
Hats are next! Pattern reading and knitting in circles are both very important basic skills that allow new knitters to continue on and knit more and more and more!

Fast knitters may even start a baby blanket in class! If not you can always take our Baby Blanket Workshop in June.

We’re really pleased to be able to teach crafty techniques to wonderfully talented groups of knitters and would-be knitters. It’s terrific to pass on skills that you know will help a person achieve their goals and help them while away the hours.

New Knitters try the Baby Blanket Workshop.

In just one class you will learn basic pattern reading and how to recognize a knit from a purl to create textured wonders like this baby blanket. You only need to know how to knit to take this class, we will teach you the purl if you are not acquainted.

Knitters who know knits and purls both try the Slipper Class

This class teaches how to knit in rounds so that you can create three dimensional projects.  This is a must have skill for any knitter who wants to get beyond knitting scarves and washcloths. Cozy slippers are fast to make and make great gifts too!

Seasoned Knitters and Sock Knitters try the Custom Fit Sock Class

Learn how to make socks to suit your tootsies, then make more socks for friends and family with any size feet.  Any old yarn can be promoted for the occasion regardless of gauge. If that is not enough of an incentive to take this sock class then – are you tempted by a toe-up pattern?  Knitting socks from the toe up means running out of yarn before you finish your toes is just a bad memory. If you are a sockaholic this is a class for you!

new shop = new classes

It’s the New Math!
…not really, but we are about to host our first Knit 101 and Crochet 101 classes in the new Knit Cafe class room here in the Roncesvalles Village.  It’s all happening this week!

These are our foundation programs in knitting and crocheting respectively. Novice knitters and crocheters practice their basics or lapsed crafters get a refresher course.  We so seldom get a chance to learn a brand new skill and it’s such a joy. Come join us this week.
