What is “marled” except for a really hard word to say? Does it not make you feel like your mouth is full of marbles or is it just me?
Marled yarns are a melange of more than one colour separated into strands and spun together. If you are familiar with past Brooklyn Tweed Colours like “Newsprint” and “Narwhal” then you are familiar with marled colours. Brooklyn Tweed has just added a few more of these colour hybrids to their gorgeous pallet. Above ↑ check out “Caraway” and” Amaranth”. These two new marls are available in both the Shelter and the Loft yarns from Brooklyn Tweed and good news….
…colours “Narwhal” and “Newsprint” are now available in Loft too! Previously they were only available in Shelter.
The Knit Café just received our shipment. You can have a look at all the new stock of Brooklyn Tweed including the new Marled Colours in our webshop
There’s a new sweater pattern by Andrea Mowry. It’s called Wool and Honey.
Isn’t it sweet? It’s knit from this gorgeous colour of Brooklyn Tweed Loft called Embers, which just happens to be snuggled in the Knit Cafe shelves right now.
This sweater would be apropos knit with the Hayloft colour too. Check out The Knit Cafe’s supply of Loft by Brooklyn Tweed HERE
We’ve been busy here at The Knit Café. Busy – designing patterns, busy – getting out the class schedule which is now ready for your inspection HERE, and busy – stocking up on delicious yarn so we will be all ready for the Fall Knitting Season. It’s coming!
We are stuffed to the gills with Brooklyn Tweed thanks to a nice big order that came in over the last few weeks. Both Loft (fingering) and Shelter (worsted) are resplendent in the shop and fully stocked in the webshop.
Our new batch of Shelter includes Brooklyn Tweed’s new marled colours. They are pictured above.
We also received an order of Madelinetosh. Hooray! See above all the pretty colours of Madelinetosh Chunky; many of which were chosen from Madelinetosh’s Fall Seasonal Colours 2016.
We also received lace weight from Madelinetosh – Prairie.
and Silk Cloud from Shibui.
Mix these two beauties together and what do you get? Sashiko!
This amazing shawl designed by Iwona really shows off what Prairie and Silk Cloud can do when they are combined. Make up your own colour combinations or knit it up in the original colour pallet. Check out the Sashiko pattern HERE.
Are you excited about Fall knitting yet?
Delightful, delicious, delovely yarn from talented indie dyer Julie Asselin has made it to the Knit Café. Just look at these beauties. They look right at home hanging beside the Riverside yarns. Both these yarns are Quebecois, so they speak the same language you see. Both are worsted weights too. The new skeins from Julie Asselin are gorgeous, 100% superwash merino, with a plyed spin.
I will take some close-up glamor shots for you soon, but better yet come and see them for yourself.
We are now well stocked in Brooklyn Tweed and have added a few colours to our Brooklyn Tweed colour pallet too. In other words – there is more to love! Above are a few of the new hues, but check our webshop for the full array. Some of your favourites are back too!
It is only a matter of hours before The Knit Café Class Sale ends. Get your 15% off on your class registration before the sale expires at the end of the day tomorrow – Sunday January 10, 2016. See all the classes HERE
We are starting off the new year right with a new addition to The Knit Cafe’s menu of yarns. Behold, a selection of yarn from Julie Asselin↓
Julie Asselin is a Quebecois hand dyer and the beauties above are some of her handiwork. Merletto is the name of the yarn. It is a sumptuous blend: 75% merino, 15% cashmere, 10% silk. There is 740m on a skein. It is a lace weight yarn so perfect for fine knit shawls and other silky, dreamy projects.
We expect to get other treasures from Julie Asselin real soon. Stay tuned!
I’m also happy to announce that we have just added the Brooklyn Tweed Loft yarn to our webshop. You can now purchase this fingering weight version of the terrific Brooklyn Tweed wool line online and have us ship it to you. Have a look HERE.
