Heads up folks!  We have some pretty special classes starting this week!

Amigurumi
It’s crocheting adorable toys.  You can practice in class by making these sweet owls and learn techniques like 3D shaping and pattern reading so you can create more critters on your own.

Cable Cowl Workshop
An introduction to cabling class, where you make this classy cable cowl!

Baby Blanket Workshop
Learn to recognize your knit from your purl and back again while you stitch away at this blanket.  Pattern reading is another key ingredient in this class curriculum. Bonus – you end up with a terrific blankie just in time for spring!

Sweater Design Class

That’s right – you can design your very own sweater.  You will use simply formulas to construct a top down raglan sleeve sweater to fit your own measurements. Cardigan or pullover – it’s your choice!

felt is king!

I love this!  The Lion Head by Keily Stewart is now ensconced in our window and let me tell you- folks are smiling as they walk by and catch his eye.  Who can blame them.  This guy has got charm oozing from his well hidden ears (he has a lot of mane).  You can see more pictures of the Lion in action on Keily’s website.  I particularly like this one where he relaxes at the park.
The lion head is made using several types of felting techniques and if you are at all curious about how someone goes about making such a thing then you are in luck!  The Knit Cafe is running 2 felt-making workshops in the month of August. No you won’t be making a giant lion head, but you could make yourself a miniature version in Edie Kim’s upcoming Needle Felting Workshop.

This box of fun contains Edie Kim’s creative genius.  She will be dishing out knowledge and demonstrating skills in her upcoming needle felting class.

Keily Stewart (the creator of ye olde lion head)  has also agreed to disperse her pearls of wisdom on the subject of Wet Felting. Lion Heads will not be part of the curriculum. Instead look forward to making a pair of felted slippers.
